About
I am a Designer and Art Director for Television, Theatre & Live Events, creating sets that are both visually striking and practical. From design concept to a workable solution, I collaborate with the creative and technical teams to ensure that the final result is dynamic and comes in on budget.
I am responsible for model making, design visuals and drawing up, working with the set builders on materials and finishes, to finally ensuring that all goes smoothly on set during the build and show. I have extensive experience working in TV studios, theatres & stadiums, on concert & festival stages as well as at venues and locations that just fit the bill.
My key strengths include: responding to creative briefs with imaginative & acheivable solutions, liasing with technical department to maintain a strong visual cohesion, whilst keeping good lines of communication open at all times. I am practical, meticulous, with a good eye for detail & finish.
Career Highlights
Having taken some time out to have my two children I was delighted to work on two series of Flirty Dancing for Second Star Productions in 2018 & 2019, working with a fantastic team we shot six episodes at locations around the UK, a truely uplifting & optimistic show.
In 2014 I designed the Wireless & EDC Festival stages for Live Nation. Using the Wireless branding as inspiration, the design used chevrons of LED across the front
of the 70m wide stage, which gave it a vibrant & dynamic identity, via a very complicated rigging matrix.
Bringing Electric Daisy Carnival to the UK for the first time, I designed three unique sets for the dance tents, as well as the DJ riser for the main stage. With an emphasis on the 'experience', these immersive environments ensured the audience became part of the event.
The War of the Worlds 'New Generation' UK Tours in 2012 & 2014, were an opportunity to re-imagine an iconic and legendary show, injecting a new lease of life into the staging and scenic elements and giving a cohesive look to the Stadium shows. Working with technical teams to bring Liam Nieson to life on stage via a hologram was a notable challenge.
The 2012 BLUR Concert in Hyde Park co-incided with the Olympic closing ceremony. Building a larger than life section of the A40 West Way to be set in the interval before Blur's headline performance was great fun and real show stopper moment.
MTV World Stages 2012-2014: Gottehenberg: Durban: Glasgow. Performances for a live audience: the biggest names in music: staging infused with local colour.
- The Heineken Forums 2013-17:Singapore:Amsterdam:Berlin. These international two day conferences are an opportunity to stretch corporate creativity , finding unusual branding opportunities, whilst maintaining an extremely high level of finish from beginning to end. Taking inspiration from the local market and liasing with global clients and suppliers.
